Installer troubleshooting

Picardy and QuidiVidi are not notarized Mac and Windows apps, so your system may complain when you try to download and run the installer.

Windows

  1. Your PC might not want to download the installer because it’s not an app it knows about. Some things you can try:
    • You could try a different browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
    • If your anti-virus complains, see if you can instruct it to allow the download
    • Right-click the link and choose Save Link As… from the menu
  2. When you get the installer downloaded, double-click it to start the installation process
    • If you see a screen saying Windows protected your PC and that has a “More Info” link, click More Info and it will give you the option to Run Anyway
    • Alternatively, right-click (or Shift-right-click) the installer (it should be in your Downloads folder) and choose Run as Administrator from the menu
    • Another option is to right-click the installer and choose Properties from the menu, and then on the General tab, click Unblock (if present)

Macintosh

QuidiVidi is not a notarized Apple app, so MacOS will try to tell you that it’s terrible, horrible, very bad, no good, etc. Pay it no mind. Ctrl-click the app and then click Open; click Open Anyway when prompted. Alternatively you can go to System Settings > Privacy and Security to find the same prompt.

Happy sailing!
